Ollie Collins

The Chapman Stick.....

"As well as playing both the bass guitar and double bass, I also play an exclusive weird instrument called the Chapman Stick. The Stick is a totally unique instrument, it consists of 10 strings (five bass and five treble) all on one finger board, as you can imagine it has an incredible range! Unlike the bass or guitar, you don't pluck or strum the strings with your right hand. Instead you use your right hand to tap the treble strings while tapping the bass strings with your left. It's a cross between a bass/guitar with the technique of touching note like you would on a keyboard".

Together with the bass guitar, Ollie has recorded the Stick on his debut album "Make Time Last" on the intro track and "Old District". Also Ollie has used the Stick with a group called Iconic Phare who have just completed their debut album "Turning The Tide" (5 Tracks on Stick). The album is executively produced by Alan Parsons and is available via this link.
